Granted, there are cases such as AOL where investors will discount potential revenues and earnings far into the future.

However, we are talking about two very different types of situations. it is truly comparing apples and oranges. I have also seen analogies made between GeneChips and semiconductors. While this is a cute comparison, I don't believe it makes sense to compare AFFX's business model to something like Intel.

I think that it would be far more useful to study current DNA sequencing technologies, and to look at the track record of AFFX's management and their largest shareholders.
