But the number of med schools has actually declined over the years, leaving fewer seats available.

I suspect as with engineering schools - the number of foreign students accepted is growing and they don't plan to stay in the USA after school. Graduating from an American college still carries weight - even though libtards will claim we have the worst health care system, that's what draws the world to our doors - because we suck so bad.
