TI cuts Q3 sales target on lower demand
9/8/2011 8:26 PM EDT
SAN FRANCISCO—Texas Instruments Inc. Thursday (Sept. 8) cut its third quarter sales target, citing broadly lower demand across a wide range of products, markets and customers.

TI (Dallas) said it now expects sales for the third quarter to be between $3.23 billion and $3.37 billion, down from an earlier range of $3.4 billion to $3.7 billion.
The company said it now expects earnings for the third quarter to be between 56 and 60 cents per share, down from a prior range of 55 to 65 cents per share.

In recent weeks, several chip firms, including Altera Corp. and Fairchild Semiconductor Corp., have reduced their third quarter sales targets, citing decreased demand.
