An interesting thing about MiC, is that by doing so we can export our pollution also,

Today on NPR radio there was a discussion of absolutely horrible pollution in Chinese cities near coal production facilities. It seems a lot of this coal is baked into coke and shipped to the USA and other places. The US uses the fuel in "clean" coke burning facilities, and the pollution stays in China. I never thought about this before; there is a big downside to a society willing to be the gritty production base for the rest of the world.
