It really was a great article. As good as the charting data is from StockChart.com you can only go back 19 years. You certainly can not find that data on the number of recessions within past bear markets easily. One source that I used to follow Martin Capital no longer has charts available.

Even the P/E Ratio on the S&P 500 is hard to get an accurate reading on because analysts' are always trying to say it is historically low based on future earnings expectations. More discussion on that here:

Looks like the actual P/E ratio is just slightly lower than 20 right now.

Interesting that even as bearish as the article was Martin Pring said a rally was likely. I like that kind of even handed info.
