"The Gore-inch Who Stole Christmas--and the Presidency"...
Picture Gore on the front of an upcoming Barron's, with a green face and this title.

Clearly the political stuff is contributing to the negativity, more than most people know. An excellent post in the Compaq folder points out the Compaq is trading at levels not seen since 1997, when they were CEO-less. There are land mines out there, but the bearishness seems extreme, I think much more than the widely published bull/bear surveys indicate.

If there were a bull/bear index that factored in PEGs(which are quite low right now) and relative attention to bad news with none to good news, it would be at a decade-high right now.
