This, however, was not a case of that. You made an assertion that was false. I suppose it isn't a lie if you didn't know it was false, but you didn't know it was true, either. You couldn't have known that because it wasn't the case. And, instead of manning up, you engaged in an elaborate fan dance to try to throw a smokescreen around the issue.

Which is your MO. You make a sweeping and demonstrably untrue statement. You first try to claim it is objective truth, and if that doesn't work, you start weaseling, spinning, nuancing, changing the subject and often trying to rewrite history.
