Gosh- that pretty much explains some behavior I've seen on the net. So what sort of collective hysteria causes whole masses of people to "split"- I mean I know propaganda causes it, but I wonder why it works. Because there seem to be an awful LOT of people who are willing to view whole groups of people as having no good in them. I must confess, I have a problem with fanatics. But if I meet them I try to remember ONE good thing about them- so I don't hate them (really really hate them- as opposed to dislike), and only hate their ideas. But the EMOTION that I want to feel is hate- because I'm afraid of them. But I don't like hate. So I reject it. But the hating seems more normal and easier than the effort I have to make to reject the hate.
