I've never been one to suggest that presidents can do a damned thing, good or bad, about the markets.

But Obama couldn't possibly have inherited a better situation WRT the market. There had already been a selloff, GWB had already solved the BIG economic problem (the cash flow crunch), and all Obama had to do was wait on it to come back.

I would be careful not to celebrate prematurely, however. There is a price that must be paid for this massive spending our country can't afford.
