Aaron - Re:" do the Cyrix and AMD chips fit the old pattern?"

Same pattern, new generation!

I like Andy Grove's description of AMD (circa 1992 or 1993) -"the Milli Vanilli of microprocessors."

When AMD and Cyrix come out with new products, many people jump to the conclusion that Intel had somehow laid off all its engineers about two years ago. They completely ignore Intel's own internal development efforts - some announced, many unannounced.

The only cure for this misconception is to wait - wait for the market realities to take place.

This takes time and patience. Intel investors with both of these will be rewarded.

By the way - I do believe there is some money to be made in the short term on AMD and Cyrix.
