In the 1780s, NYC had fewer than 20,000 residents, and Philadelphia only slightly larger. While the other states were sparsely populated, the concentrations of political power in the large states has grown which some would argue is part of the problem today.

I'm not proposing any change, but if anything, the urban centers today seem to me to be overly endowed with power.
