Just as much as the Germans loved Carter and now love your Obama, they hated the guts of Reagan and his 'extremely dangerous Cowboy politics'. Whatever good - or bad - Reagan did has been totally suppressed, brushed under the rug - and/or credited to others. It's not that they are unthankful SOBs, it's just that they truly don't understand, and when patiently being explained, that they then refuse to understand.
