Hi Duff,

I would recommend before you start Scandisk, you should close any open programs.

Secondly, hit <CTRL>+<ALT>+<DEL> to bring up the Task Manager, and end every process except Explorer and Systray. Chances are you have many programs running in the background such as Iomega drive scannners, anti-virus programs, power management, etc. Shutting these processes down ensures reliability when running Scandisk.

Be sure to restart the computer when Scandisk is complete to bring your system back to a 'normal' state.
