GVTucker,
This is consistent with what I've been saying. Some people think that when they read "are greater" they assume some huge amounts. The fact is that the difference in royalties for all 3 are in the 1% range. So what I said still stands that 4-6% is the range in controllers. What I could see is 4% in SDRAM, 5% in RDRAM and 6% DDR. That would be consistent with even the numbers we've heard from Rambus on DRAM memory. 1% for SDRAM, 2% in RDRAM and 3% in DDR.

The funny thing is that these royalties are peanuts when it comes to the price of SDRAM, DDR or RDRAM. Memory by itself fluctuates 10 times or more that amount quarter to quarter. These royalties add just a few cents on each part. Yes, each cent makes a difference to Rambus, but it's peanuts to the price the end user pays. In fact, it would not surprise me to hear that Micron would have spend more money on its lawyers fees for the lawsuits than they would have paid Rambus for a few years of royalties. Go figure. IMHO of course.
