The Israelis must be scratching their heads as they look at the United States repeated failures to grapple with this problem.

Uh........the US couldn't possibly do a system like the one in Israel. First of all, Israel has only six million people who are predominately Jewish. Less than 20% percent of the population is Arab. There are only two major airports in the country and most flights are international. They do not use their airports to get around their country like we do. If the US were to enact the same intensive security policies, we would have airport gridlock. It would be totally unworkable.
