It is loaded with many easy-to-use functions designed to enhance the user's experience, including:
-- AV Babel Fish Translation Center -- AV Babel Fish Translation
Center allows users to instantly translate web pages into a
selected language. AV Babel Fish Translation Center is an
existing AltaVista feature now incorporated into the Internet
Explorer 5 toolbar for immediate access. For example, with a
click of the button, a user can translate a web page in French to
English, or English to French. Other languages supported include
German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
-- AV Tracker -- AV Tracker is a personalized Explorer bar in
Internet Explorer 5 that is updated regularly, enabling users to
keep apprised of the latest news, weather, sports and stock
information without disrupting their browsing activities.
-- Finds Similar Pages -- With the click of a mouse, users can find
pages similar to the contents of the Web page viewed. Much like
having a research assistant on call, users can search for related
links, find specific pages that link to the page being viewed,
and find other pages hosted on the same domain.
-- Right Click Functionality -- The new customized version also
allows users to highlight a word or group of words, right click
on the mouse and instantly conduct an AltaVista search on the
word or phrase. This function also works with AltaVista's
translation capability, allowing for easy translation of a
selected word or phrase.
-- Direct Links -- The AltaVista customized version will also
showcase special custom links on the toolbar to AltaVista's
specific features and services, such as AV PhotoFinder, AV
Categories, AV Shopping and AV Maps. These links provide users
with instantaneous access to AltaVista's many innovative
offerings.
