I agree with you, msft better put out their forecasts soon. I think the timing of the announcement maybe crucial. If Intel had warned day before, it would have got crushed, by warning yesterday, it saved itself for another day.

One just has to look at what is happening with SUNW today. Since they have not discussed earnings expectations lately, investors appear to be avoiding the stock. I do think SUNW would be more vulnerable to big drop in stock price than MSFT would be. For Sunw it will be a first and that is why it may still get hit. MSFT will probably go up on a profit warning and I don't expect them to warn big like Intel did due to a lessor exposure to consumer PC demand. I think MSFT can go up much more than Intel did today if they just cut EPS by a 2cents and revenues by about 3%. In that scenario, I would expect MSFT to crack 60 pretty quick.

BTW--the sunw concerns may be unfounded but why take the chance on sunw when you can hold Intel/MSFT in which bad news already discounted significantly. I am thinking about buy SUNW calls as I think they and HWP are taking market share from IBM.
