Barnes 7/1/97 Closed at 29 I sold 60% of my holdings in Barnes today at 29 9/16, and the remaining 40% will be put into my "Core Holdings Portfolio" which is comprised of fundamentally sound companies which I plan to hold for the next 12 + months - regardless of where the general averages go. I expect Barnes will earn $2.00+ for their F.Y. ending 12/31/97 on sales in excess of $ 620. Mil. The company should report $2.40 for fy 98. I further expect Barnes to enter a trading range of between 26 -34 over the balance of the year, although the company continues to grow better than 15+ for the foreseeable future. Gary
