Japan plans to label 'detectable' GM food
nature.com
Japan imports almost 60 per cent of its agricultural products, mainly from the United States...switching to domestically produced GM-free ingredients could double the cost of products....

There is a commentary worth reading in this weeks Nature--

says alot about the GM debate:

The second Silent Spring?
JOHN R. KREBS, JEREMY D. WILSON, RICHARD B. BRADBURY & GAVIN M. SIRIWARDENA

Whatever hazard GM crops might be thought to pose to the environment is painted onto a biodiversity landscape that is already severely damaged by the intensification of agriculture.
