IMO it is not an either/or situation. Jesus was an inward man to a level I fail to understand. However, he was also an outward man to a level beyond me. His intimacy with the Father and His intimacy with others is what sets Jesus apart and encourages me to follow in His steps. Jesus has instilled in me His Spirit and it is only through my connection with His presence within do I find the ability to properly nurture my relationships without. So was Jesus a spiritual Person? In a word, YES! But it was more than that. Jesus was/is the only whole person, complete through and through.
