This is stupid. Automakers don't give a shit about fuel economy. Never have and never will. They only care about their costs and not the costs ignorant consumers might bear after a lemon product is off the showroom floor.

This article is naive. It doesn't begin to explain the motivations of greed that got America into the current fix we are in with a hellish future guaranteed for the nation for the sake of our addiction to cheap oil.
