Dear Matt,
The reason that reason that no company has "stepped to the plate" to bid for ASND is really quite simple. Because the market is so incredibly volatile (today being a perfect example), this has kept many company's on the sideline. The recent surfacing of CSCO making a play for ASND, may be a direct answer to your question as well. CSCO may be saying, ASND is in play, LU is the major player, but can't move until Oct., can we steal ASND? CSCO is the only company with the resources and nerve to "step to the plate" however if they did, it would greatly undermine the company's previous attempts to compete with ASND via the company's previous acquisitions. In essence, for CSCO to bid for ASND, they would be admitting defeat and inferiority to ASND's products. Sort of a double edge sword, don't you think?
I hope I have shed some light on your question, as it is strictly my opinion.
Good Luck,
Jamie |
