In case anyone cares, the local media, more specifically WFAN radio in NY, has been saying that although UConn won and thus deserves to be called "national champions", had the two teams played 10 games, maybe UConn would have won twice (Mike) or four times (Chris). Of course the UConn fans are incensed and calling the station to complain vehemently saying the media was ignoring just how good UConn was this past season.

The UConn fans contend that UConn handily beat St. Johns whereas Duke needed overtime. That UConn handily defeated Michigan State, whereas Michigan State had a shot to tie Duke down the stretch in their only game. That UConn only lost when they were not "whole". The counter-argument is that the St. Johns games meant more to UConn, that the Michigan State game was during the tournament, and that Miami's shot so well that day they would have beaten anyone. Of course there are counter arguments to this and counter arguments to the counter arguments, etc.
