Realtick will let you create exponential MA's too Rick.

The very first book I read on the markets and trading was Dr. Elder's Trading for a Living. He was really down on simple MA's and pointed out why the EMA's were so much more intelligent.

So I was bothered about this and asked about two dozen traders which ones they used. About half of them ignored me, and the rest said they use simple. I tried both and it sure seemed that the simple MA's were giving many more crisp correlations. As it was pointed out on this thread they become a self fulfilling prophecy when enough of the traders use them.

I use candlestick charts with MA's and volume and that is it.

I use a few ma's on a few different time frames so i end up with a system that if i only listen to the ma's I win like crazy. When i let other crap get in the way i have to pay.
