I`m interested in your rules for when to hold through earnings.

For me...never. On a rare occasion I get lazy and not check when earnings are due. I think, for an individual investor, it`s too much of a coin flip holding. Do they miss or do they beat. Small caps can get crushed when they miss. Is guidance good or bad. Small caps can get crushed when the guide down. Does the market sell the news or buy the news. Most always they give you another chance to climb aboard even with positive news and if it runs away, move to the next stock.

For example the last earnings report from OME after the bell on May 8. May 9 was a good day to get shaken out if you held or a good day to remount if you were flat:
