Suppose that I kiss my wife briefly, even on the lips. No one cares. Suppose that we spend several minutes in "lip lock". Commonly, that would give offense. However, if we were in the park, under a tree on a blanket, people would probably ignore us; but if we were in a restaurant,in plain view, they would likely be angry at our indiscretion. It is all circumstantial and a matter of details, governing the degree to which people feel intruded upon. Having discussed this at some length, and having endured various offensive insinuation about my perversion, neuroses, social climbing, and the like, you can understand that I am tiring of the topic.
