Prohibiting same-sex marriage does not deny equal protection. They have full rights to marry someone of the opposite sex.

If a state prohibits an adult from having sex with a 10-year-old girl, but not a 20-year-old woman, is that not denial in the same sense you claim? Why should minors be a special class?
