I repeat: We are responsible for our own security. If that benefits other countries, I call that a win-win.

Cost vs. benefit should always factor into national security, but forcing other countries to "pay their fair share" will only breed resentment. They'll just tell us to go pound sand.

If you still don't understand, ask yourself whether South Korea is "paying their fair share." You might want to start with the question of who divided Korea in the first place.
