i don't see any gain for aol in giving away the "buddy" list. first of all, icq was recently voted #1 for instant messengers. aol acts as if they have something hot that nobody else has. secondly, i see this as a desperate move from aol to try and have more people using "buddy" so not to lose subs because they can't communicate w/ non aol users. the funny thing is the more aol subs connect with the other internet non aol users, the more aol subs will realize that aol blows. aol is making itself more non-distinguishable from any other isp everyday. and how much exactly is aol getting for this latest "deal"?
