I write code in my spare time, and I used to write some Assembly language, in which I made decisions about the use of the registers. However, now I write in much higher language levels and let the underlying compiler and p-code take care of assigning and managing the registers. My programs, which represent a fair sample of the average programmer's efforts is constantly switching between single, dbl, and integer math calculations. Every time I paint a screen, and move items on that screen, we are talking about floating point operations. Only when I do integer math, when I do database operations, or other tasks more germain to the application do I primarily use integer math, and then not consistently. I really don't think this problem is going to have much to do with external dll libraries.
