The White House is making it clear that it's opposed to Ford's possible primary campaign against appointed Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D).

Here's a (one of many) place where I disagree with the White House. Primaries are healthy. They can endorse a candidate if they want, but I don't want to see them trying to keep candidates out; particularly in a race like this one where the incumbent was appointed, not elected.


Your point is a good one. I think people are worried that 2010 is going to be a tough year for the Dems and they don't want the Dems to be any more divided than they already are. It doesn't justify a 'heavy' hand from the WH but I understand why they are concerned.
