Very vivid picture. On the other hand, I don't suppose that Frank Zappa was suicidal.

Given the choice between beating the crap out of someone, and being killed, most would choose life.

On the one hand there are some young men and women twisting the night away in a beachfront discotech, and on the other hand, some very sincere and devout young men who hate naked flesh being exposed in public, men and women dancing together, and alcohol, and believe it is their mission in life to bomb said discotech. It's ugly to imprison and mistreat said young men in order to get them to spill their secrets.

There's a lot about human existence which is ugly.

It's ugly to put people in prison, but even uglier to let murderers, rapists, pedophiles and so forth run free.

It's ugly to involuntarily commit people to insane asylums, but even uglier to let the helpless hopeless insane rot on the streets.

Governments are ugly, but anarchy is uglier.

Free trade is ugly, but central planning is uglier.

Buddhism is pretty, but I am not aware of any Buddhist country that doesn't have an oppressive caste structure.

Christianity is pretty, but Christians oppress non-Christians, and the wrong type of Christians. Not that long ago Protestants and Catholics were killing each other, and still do, in Ireland.

And these are all subjective value judgments, of course.
