OptimumCare Postpones Launch of Portland Program
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 20, 1999-- OptimumCare Corp. (OTC BB: OPMC) Wednesday announced that it was delaying the launch of its partial hospitalization behavioral healthcare program in Portland, Ore., originally scheduled to be in operation by the end of 1998.

''Along with other behavioral healthcare providers nationwide, we are affected by a backlog of applications for provider numbers that the government is taking longer to process than anticipated,'' said OptimumCare's chairman & chief executive officer, Edward A. Johnson.

Johnson said OptimumCare feels confident that its programs are of the highest caliber. ''We will continue to explore every avenue available to us to launch programs like Portland, as well as others throughout the Western United States,'' Johnson said. ''And we have every confidence that we will be successful in our quest.''

Created in 1987, OptimumCare provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services through a network of medical centers, hospitals and community mental health centers.
