The Halliburton contracts were the same sort of support work done by the company in the Balkans and many other places. The idea the Iraq war was waged so that HAL could make profits running commisaries and shipping goods around Iraq is silly.

The independence of Kurds in awarding oil development contracts has nothing to do with the issue of why America didn't steal Iraq's oil as liberals claim we went to Iraq to do. Baghdad, Kurdistan - we could steal oil from one area as well as the other.

As for Bush, there's no evidence Bush's Dad did anything to help him get in on the Rangers deal. Though I have no doubt his family name helped.

Now as for the elder George Bush, his uncle DID help him get his first job out of college selling for an oil service firm.

As for the Bush-Obama comparison, both went to elite prep schools. Punahou was and is the most expensive such school in HA. Is it less prestigious than wherever Bush went? Who knows or cares. The point is BOTH had a privileged education.
