A lot of that inherited wealth is going into houses. One of the the main reasons why most people on SI don't think Americans can afford the houses they are buying is that they haven't calculated in the windfall that people my age are now receiving after their parents pass away. Every time someone wants to show me some new addition they put on or upgrade they are doing, they start out with, "Well, when I got that money after my Mom died...."
