Soldiers prevent bombing of school bus by Amos Harel Courtesy of Ha'aretz Friday November 23 2001 It was released for publication Thursday that IDF troops thwarted a bombing attack Wednesday night on a school bus in the Gush Katif bloc of settlements in the Gaza Strip. The unit of army reservists spotted a group of terrorists moving along the road to the settlement bloc and opened fire. The terrorists fled the scene and a search Thursday morning revealed a 20-kilogram explosive device placed on the road. The device was detonated without any injuries. Security services estimate that the device was an attempted attack on pupils from the settlements. Three mortars were fired overnight Wednesday in the Gaza Strip. Two were fired at an IDF base in the Gush Katif settlement bloc, and the third at a settlement in the southern part of the Strip. There were no injuries. IDF forces arrested six members of the Islamic Jihad near Bir Zeit University, north of Ramallah, overnight Wednesday, Israel Radio reported.
