4) you forgot the linux admins who like OSX because it is UNIX, they can use the command line, and they love the multimedia aspects of it too. It's like a super cool linux. Microsoft is like super UNCOOL linux. They can put drab linux on their servers but admin them with a fun MacBook. These are the influencers.

I mentally grouped them into type 4 as well (Linux is Unix for all practical purposes.) The reason I consider them already sold is that many of the influencers already bought into OS X in the PPC days as Unix capability was more important than Windows compatibility. They got the cool mac stuff for free without losing what they liked or needed in Unix. This group also includes die-hard Solaris/AIX/HPUX users.

IT still rages among the old fogies. But more and more younger people see a MacBook or Probook as a good solid machine. The image of Mac people as fussy or snobby is fading fast.

Yup, that's why I have type 5 as a future category. Users who have the decision made for them by a centralized IT group will be the last to move as they have been for every other technology. Have to wait for the old leadership to get worn out/promoted/die before what makes sense will happen (ask anyone who tried to sell corp IT on Linux in the 90's or any other previous technology wave. Been there, done that)
