Re: Today's volume. Recently Intel traded over 100 million shares in one day. The following day a market maker in the stock was asked about all the volume. He said "A lot of those trades were transactions between dealers. The real volume was probably closer to 33 million."

I don't know how to interpret that, but I'm sure the volume figures on NASDAQ are inflated. More than once I've owned a stock that supposedly traded more than the entire float in 2 or 3 days.
