I have a particular dislike of people who colonize others and force them to convert to their way of life, by religion, economics, or militarily.
Well, where are you currently living?? On another planet??
Because buddy, that's what this world's history has been all about for THOUSANDS OF YEARS.
Whether it be the Egyptians conquering the Hebrews, or the Hebrews conquering the Caananites, or the Assyrians/Babylonians conquering the Hebrews, their return only to be later conquered by the greeks under Alexander the Great, and then the Romans, and then the muslims, then the crusaders, then the muslims again, and then the turks, and then the british....
So Len, wake up and smell the coffee..... THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE MIDDLE EAST HAS BEEN ABOUT COLONIZING OTHERS AND FORCING THEM TO SUBMIT TO THE CONQUERORS WILL.
In fact, the entire history of the world has been about the various wars and intrigues aimed at conquering each other's neighbors and taking what they have for themselves.
That's what the Palestinian uprising is about... taking what Israel has achieved and making it their own. They want to be the rulers and not the subjugated. Given half a chance, we already know that they would kill every Israeli Jew (and probably Arab too) and claim their property for their own.
And we know that when Arafat was stupid enough to attempt a coup in Jordan in the early 1970's, the Jordanians RUTHLESSLY dealt with it, killing THOUSANDS of Palestinians... But no one said hardly a peep in Egypt, or the rest of the Arab world, except to try and calm the situation down from getting out of control. In fact, King Hussein tried to plead with the Israelis to bomb Palestinian forces...

And we know that THROUGHOUT THE ARAB MUSLIM WORLD TODAY, that non-muslims are repressed, if not outrightly persecuted, so they are doing the exact thing that "you don't like"....
Yet, we buy their oil, sell them our weapons, and protect them from one another... even after they steal (they call it nationalization) our oil facilities without compensation.
And we've protected them even after they tried to economically cripple us by embargoing sales of their oil to us because they didn't agree with our helping Israel defend itself from attack by both Egypt and Syria.
So if you're only focused upon how the US foreign aid is used in Israel, YOU'RE COMPLETELY MISSING THE PICTURE...
Whatever "repression" being caused by Israeli use of US weapons is matched by repression of minorities by Arabs in their own lands while using US weapons.
What's more important to me is that the US continue to develop a foreign policy where we are able to exert some leverage. And such leverage doesn't exist unless you are providing something that we can threaten to take away unless we have cooperation.
For many years, the Israelis used French and British equipment (through 1967). And during this period the US has VERY LITTLE leverage they could exert over the Israelis. But to a point, that equation has changed now and we have some leverage.
And FINALLY... quit misquoting me... Although I stated that WHEN ISLAM WAS ORIGINALLY FOUNDED AND THROUGH THE 1500'S (Moorish Spain and inquisition), it had been more tolerant of Jews THAN WERE CHRISTIANS, that does not mean they are more tolerant now.
BECAUSE THEY AREN'T...
For this, they were rewarded by having a colony foisted upon them.
But of course, you likely believe that having a Hashemite Arab King from Mecca made ruler over the largest portion of Palestine was entirely justifiable, right??? |
