RDM K7 Conclusions about Sharky story:
1. Evidence AMD is in alpha test to OEMs as discussed and doubted on this thread.

2. Clock is 500 Mhz for alpha prototype with support chip, etc limitations. Small L2 Cache is used (512K) and run at 166 Mhz (clock/3).

3. Results are similar to Pentium III at same clock rate (500 Mhz). Floating point improved over K6 and similar to Pentium III.

4. This is good news for K7 fans. The K7 performance lower bound is now established at parity with the fastest Intel chip. At a 600 Mhz clock with 2 MB of cache performance may be 20% faster than 500 Mhz Pentium.

5. AMD are just a couple of tweaks (errata) away from a chip that will out clock the Pentium and perform at or greater for the same clock.

6. This is necessary confirmation for shipping for revenue of K7 in June.
