Hi Janice- What about those shareholders who sold based on their (Novell's) statement that "Novell is not for sale" or all those calls that Peter Troop made and shareholders sold based on his "specific" comments. Here is the chronology of Novell's announcements...note some of them are very specific.

#5382, Dennis Conner, Nov 27 1996 10:06PM - received a call from Peter Troop today in response to my call to Investor Relations regarding the filing of the "POISON PILL".

#5367, Thomas J. Crandall, Nov 27 1996 6:56PM - "He explained that this was merely a extension of the expired one and the timing was quite poor. He mentioned that it was definitly not because of a takeover."

#5358, Paul Fiondella, Nov 27 1996 4:47PM - "First he explained that the SEC filing was a routine update of the 1988 SEC filing which had a ten year window and was not intended to mean anything significant in relation to takeover rumors or have any greater significance than be a routine update. Apparently the legal folks didn't understand the implications of the timing of what they were doing. His department wasn't even informed of the action by the legal folks."

Alert: NOVELL CFO SAYS COMPANY NOT FOR SALE

Reuters Story - November 26, 1996 18:32 chairman John Young told analysts on a conference call immediately following the release that Novell
believes the best way to provide value for customers and
shareholders is to remain an independent company.

Novell adopts rights plan
"However, in a filing with the Securities and Exchange
Commission, the software company said the plan would not
prevent a takeover and is not designed to do so. "
The rights plan was written in 1988, but amended last week.
The company was unavailable to comment on the plan.

Just more food for thought. I too would be in favor of a buyout at $22 but it appears that it is not in the cards now. Long term a steady uptrend will do fine too (right Salah). Joe - If Salah's right we have seen the bottom.

EKS <EKS waiting for CEO announcement and $2-$3 move higher based on great expectations for the future...and EKS will sell more covered calls>
