Re QCOM Patents - Of interest was this statement:

"In particular, QUALCOMM has identified to international standards setting organizations more than 100 separate patents and published applications (not counting foreign counterparts) relevant to the W-CDMA standard proposed to those bodies for 3G wireless systems."

and

"Claims of this patent that were confirmed are essential to both Second (2G) and Third Generation (3G) CDMA wireless telecommunications standards, covering critical specifications of such standards."

The IDC contingent has been quite vocal saying QCOM is exposed re W-CDMA. It appears QCOM is using this patent ruling as an opportunity to state where its position is re 3G IPR.
