The reason why HIFN is the only one with encryption/compression on a single chip is that they virtually have a lock on the networking compression market. Their patented LZS compression is used in nearly all networking devices equipped with compression capabilities. Anyone else tyring to add this compression would need to license it from HIFN at this point.

Based on the CC, I expect to hear about significant new design wins early next week.
