thestreet.com is offering a daily update on the Y2K conference going on in San Fran. this week. This morning in reporting on the similarity between all the different tool vendors they quote the director of corporate information technology at a major West coast bank...."Viasoft looks like Zitel, which looks like Peritus, which looks like Crystal Systems. You try and tell them apart, because I can't and the companies won't. They all claim to do the same thing."

Interesting comments coming from an official for a business that should be keenly aware of the Y2K problems. As it relates to ZITEL,could this example their stellar performance in signing contracts(:>)? If all the vendors are offering the same solution, wouldn't it make sense to go with a company that has the best price and stability of being around to service their contracts? With the obvious price cutting that will have to take place for these "cookie cutter" products to get the business, will ZITEL have to sign up 1000%(:>) of the business to make their Billions in revenue? The clock is ticking...tick..tick. tick.. tick..tick..tick.
