Hi Merry,

Sooo...you found my private storage space for news about the pre-IPO Bookham. Well, it's out there now, but in answer to your question, I read enough about this company and the UK photonics scene (SDLI bought another UK tunable laser and nanotechnology company recently) that I decided to open a new board to file any interesting news item like the Jack Kilby board appointment.

I'm familiar with Wi-Lan. They do VOFDM (fixed wireless) work in competition with Cisco's Clarity Wireless unit (1997 acquisition) and ATT's own OFMD work which they recently unveiled with the launch of Project Angel. OFDM, or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a wireless radio modulation technique typically associated with fixed wireless applications, although, ATT's has several patents that indicate that they are working on making it work with mobile applications too.
