John you asked several questions:
>>>"Is the stock analyst at Oppenheimer who follows the stock Matt Geller? If so, I do know Matt and will check GENE out with him."<<<
Yes the report was written by Matthew M. Geller and Sharon R. Seiler.

>>>"Was GENE called Collaborative Research in '82? If so, the company has evolved substantially since that time!"<<<
Yes the company was founded in 1961 as Collaborative Research, Inc. (changed name in Sept. 1994 to more accurately reflect the company focus. (Merrill Lynch had initial public offering in 1982.)

GENE is headquartered in Waltham Mass. and employs 140 or more people. Oppenheimer and Co., Inc. was the sole manager for a directed institutional public offering of common stock in February 1996 at $13/share. At the time of the March report, GENE insiders owned 20% and institutions owned approximately 38%. GENE after the offering had and still has a lot of cash and is making a profit.

The report from Matt is very good and with a buy recommendation. The broker that I deal with has been following GENE for quite some time and has been bullish since my first purchase in mid 1995.

I do not know if Merrill Lynch follows the stock via an analyst.

Hope this information helps and let us know what Matt tells you. Tara

Several questions for you:
1) My broker is also expecting more and continued good news with GENE and pharmaceutical alliances, see what Matt has to say.
2) Do you know anything about or follow Aronex Pharmaceuticals Inc.(ARNX)? My broker has been bullish on this stock also and it has been moving up nicely upon expectations of upcoming good news on quite a few products that have been in the works.
