Sadly, Bush just doesn't get the real war on terrorism.
This huge commitment to Iraq means we have scant resources to go into areas where the real Al Qaida cells are; ugly cvountries without oilfields like Pakistan, Yemen and Sudan. The broken alliances mean there is less chance for crucial cooperation in law enforcement and intelligence.

I have a feeling that if Bush is re-elected, two things will happen that they're not telling us now. #1 Bush will raise taxes because he'll have to, his deficits are killing our future and he must pay for the wars.

#2 He will invade Iran given the slightest excuse and we will have a three-part Asia Minor occupation on our shoulders, maybe worse than Vietnam.

It is very questionable if Bush has made us any safer after 3 years. Some say he has created 1000 Osama Bin Laudens. But we won't know until too late. One thing we do know, before 9-11 he completely ignored terrorism and actually made efforts to get our FBI off the Saudis.
