GTW thinks the sub-$1000 PC route is not the way to go, even though they have tossed one out themselves. They believe in providing quality, not necessarily the cheapest thing they can throw at the consumer. After all, how many festivas, yugos, and other specks do you see on the road? The sub-$1000 right now is a joke IMHO.

Regarding INTC: I do not think they need to get into sub-$1000 PC market to resume revenues growth, I think they need to wait for CPQ to get their inventory in order, and get out of the slowest quarter of the year. It certainly won't hurt to have a sub-$1000 PC chip, but that is a deadend market IMHO. It is just too limited, and it is a waste to buy.

I have no doubt that the big three will try to move to the direct model. CPQ has been trying and they are seemingly committed to getting inventory in order and going much more gung ho to compete. It is proving/has proven to be a big success for DELL and GTW
