You are ignorant of the history of the past century. It was resurrected due to persecution in Europe and the Middle East combined with the closing of international immigration to the Americas beginning after WWI. By and large, the Jews had to be forced by circumstance into Zionism. Perhaps, it is divine will. I won't be presumptuous enough to say so out right but will voice the possibility. (Note: The exodus from Egypt is described as totally voluntary either. Yes, I'm talking about The Exodus.)
