JakeStraw,

TA is at the top of one of my quant screens (combined value and momentum). I have not researched the company much, but several months back I recall discussion that some investors feel like the insiders run the company for their own benefit - something about the current insiders being owners of a second business that leases to TA - and that maybe decisions aren't made in best interests of TA, but in interests of the company that leases to TA. It's hard to tell the accuracy of that (at least for me), and most value companies have negatives about them - but one of Buffett's rules is he won't do business with people he doesn't trust, and there appear to be trust issues in the company. I read a comment by a trucker who said he'd prefer almost any other stop to TA because their places always seemed run down, and I've read other comments in similar vein. (I haven't visited enough of their stops myself to have a very good feel so I'm just going from comments).

But either of those issues don't necessarily make it bad investment. Stuff get's cheap for a reason, and from a quant standpoint it has a lot going for it. Also had upwards earning revisions recently. I actually almost bought it today but stopped myself due to the above. (I know I shouldn't do that using quant methods, but... ;-) )

I did start reallocating some outside the US to Europe (VGK) today. I think Europe and Pacific might be more appealing generally from a value standpoint. That, and of course energy everywhere.
